PUNE, Sept 20: Hoping to make the best of the growth witnessed in the non-geared scooter segment, the Kinetic Group has launched its Style brand of scooterette to add to its DX, ZX and Marvel models of scooters. Style is expected to capture 25 per cent of the market currently estimated at 2,25,000 vehicles by the year 2000.Joint Managing Director of Kinetic Engineering Limited (KEL) Sulajja Firodia Motwani believed that the new scotterette Sytle would do well with its sleek design, auto start, wider seat, increased leg space and three fold storage facility. The 75 cc 4 bhp scooterette targeted at women and the youth segment is priced at Rs 25,000. The scooterette will be made available with a catalytic converter from April 2000.Designed by UEN Art & Tech INc of Taiwan, the scooterette is available in Stunning silver, Majestic maroon, Sparkle green and Superior White.Motwani said that Style would be initially manufactured at KEL's facility at Koregaon Bhima as there were capacity constraints at the Kinetic Motor Company plant at Pithampur. KMC's scooter manufacturing has gone up from 300 vehicles per day to 500 per day. Motwani said that they were also considering the possibility of coming out with another edition of Campus Chill which recorded sales of almost 8000 vehicles during this college opening season. Also slated for release is a four-stroke scooter and another scooterette by March 2000.
