
CHANDIGARH, Oct 22: As expected Khalsa Shining Star XI walked away with the title in the first Chandigarh State women football championship which concluded here today at the Sector 17 Football Stadium. Khalsa XI blanked Sanjay Public School Club by three goals to nil.
Had the players of SPS Club made efforts to know the rules of the game before the kick-off, they wouldn8217;t have committed a blunder of handling the ball in the goal area. And Gurpreet made no mistake in converting the spot kick for Khalsa XI in the first quarter of the contest.
Khalsa XI increased their margin of victory through a penalty kick in the second session when Gurpreet8217;s shot beat goalkeeper 2-0. Sarla completed the tally 3-0 through a field goal off a pass from Mandeep in the later part of the second session.
Gurpreet Kaur, Pinky Sharma, Sandhya and Parabhjot were given the best players award in the meet. Chief guest on the occasion was Vini Mahajan, MD, Pujab Tourism, who gave away the prizes to the teams.
Pooja wins gold
Pooja Jallan beat Shefali to win first position in below 27 kg category in sub-junior group in the Chandigarh State Sub-Junior and Junior judo championship at the Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School in Sector 38, today. Shefali got second place.

Below 36kg: 1 Rekha, 2 Swati Kaushik, 3 Ritu and Manjot Kaur. Below 40kg: 1 Kiran Negi, 2 Komal Saini, 3 Sulekha and Priyanka Verma. Below 44kg: 1 Geeta, 2 Anisha, 3 Mahima and Bhavya. Plus 44kg: 1 Kuljeet, 2 Isha, 3 Sangeeta.
