KC Ibrahim, who represented India in four Test matches and played first class cricket from Mumbai, died at his residence in Karachi on Monday. He was 88, and was the oldest Test cricketer having made his international debut in 1948-48 West Indies tour.
Ibrahim opened for India along with legendary Vinoo Mankad and made an impressive 85 and 44 on debut but could muster only 40 runs in the next six innings to fizzle out. He was, however, a big contributor in domestic cricket and had scored 117 in Bombay’s Ranji Trophy triumph in 1941 and reached his peak during the 1947-48 season, scoring 1171 runs including four hundreds.
