Karnataka secure 3rd place

BHADRACHALAM, APRIL 19: South Zone champions Karnataka thrashed Tamil Nadu by 85 runs to secure third place in the Rev Katakshamma memorial trophy all-India women8217;s cricket tournament played at the junior college ground here on Monday.

Former Test players Mamata Maben 98 n.o. and Mala Sundereshan 48 n.o. tore the Tamil Nadu attack to pieces. Mamata played some lovely pulls and drives after she enjoyed a let off, dropped by TN skipper Jayalakshmi at square-leg.

Tamil Nadu never looked like winning. None of the batswomen, barring opener Amsavalli 20, were comfortable against some fine Karnataka bowling and fielding.
