MUMBAI, JULY 25: A superb spell of medium pace bowling by Suresh Shetty and an unbeaten half century by opener Praful Dhule helped Karnatak Sporting Association beat Khar Gymkhana on the third day of the Dr HD Kanga League at Khar Gymkhana today.

Put in to bat, Khar Gym declared at 127 for nine, with one-drop Amol Muzumdar contributing 40 (5×4). Karnatak reached the target with five wickets to spare, to collect five first innings points. Dhule’s 61 was studded with one six and five fours, and came off 74 balls.

At Cross Maidan, MB Union suffered their second defeat in the league, to Dadar Union. From 70 for four, MB Union collapsed to 74 all out, off-spinner Parag Paingankar (4-13) doing the damage. Sanjay Manjrekar, who led Dadar Union, scored an unbeaten 16 to guide his team across with four wickets to spare. Ajit Agarkar, who turned out for Cricket Club of India (CCI), made an unbeaten 55 against Victory in a drawn tie at Brabourne Stadium.

A Division: MIG Bandra 198-7 decl(Atul Ranade 56) drew PJ Hindu 81-3 (Nitin Surve 40).

CCI 141-6 decl (Sachin Sawant 47, Ajit Agarkar 55 not out, Vinod Kini 3-51) drew Victory 51-2. Young Maharashtra 71 (Umesh Patwal 5-26) & 57-5 (Janak Mistry 3-16) lost to New Hind 102-7 (Rahul Thakkar 5-35) on first innings lead.

Khar Gym 127-9 (Amol Muzumdar 40, Musavir Khote 31 n.o., Suresh Shetty 4-20, Robin Morris 3-19) lost to Karnatak 135-5 (Praful Dhule 61 n.o., Musavir Khote 3-34).

SPG 172-6 (Amit Pagnis 32, Sushant Manjrekar 47, Pravin Amre 31, Ojas Mehta 30, Manish Patel 3-63) drew National 67-5.

MB Union 74 (Kiran Manjrekar 51, Parag Paingankar 4-13) lost to Dadar Union 75-6 (Chatak Vakharia 3-25).

Young Friends 151 (Altaf Shaikh 34, Ashish Mahadeshwar 5-51) bt SPY 94 (Aslam Sarguru 4-28, Aslam Shaikh 3-20).

B Division: Dadar Parsee Zoroastrian 75 (Jagdish Narvekar 5-21, J Feroj 4-27) lost to Khandala 76-3. United Cricketers 50 (Jayesh Gaware 3-21, Samir Patwardhan 3-13) & 88-5 (M Ankolekar 43) lost to Shantibhai Memorials 61(Mahindra Pandye 4-24, Himen Desai 4-22) & 26-6 (Himen Desai 5-10) on first innings lead.

Fort Vijay 182-7 decl (Paul Valthaty 76) drew Jolly Cricketers 61-2.
