
NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 2: American Scott Kammann made a spectacular eagle putt from 100 feet on the final hole to take a two-stroke lead over India8217;s Arjun Atwal and Ali Sher after the opening round of the -200,000 Hero Honda Masters, at the picturesque DLF Golf amp; Country Club, today. Kammann finished the day at six-under 66. The Wills Indian Open winning-duo of Atwal 1999 and Ali Sher 1991 and 8217;93 was at four-under 68, followed by Gaurav Ghei, Uttam Singh Mundy both India, Andrew Pitts, Chris Hansucker and Clay Devers all USA at three-under 69.
Kammon started his round with a birdie but a bogey from the bunker on the third evened him out for the day. After making the turn at one-under, thanks to a 10-footer birdie putt on the seventh, the American picked up the pace on the back nine with birdies on the 10th, 14th and 15th, and then authored a grandstand finish with his stunning putt on the 18th hole.
Defending champion Jyoti Randhawa began his campaign for a third successive Hero Honda Masters title with a level-par 72. Atwal8217;s first birdie came on the third hole when he almost aced the par-3 with an 8-iron tee shot which stopped about five inches shy of the cup. He then birdied the sixth and seventh and played to par before three-putting for his only bogey of the day on the par-3 16th.
