LUCKNOW, SEPT 21: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today asserted he had not been summoned by the BJP high command in New Delhi yesterday but had himself sought an appointment with senior party leaders to discuss poll-related strategy.

8220;I had sought an appointment with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee yesterday which he agreed to and even invited me to lunch,8221; Singh said contradicting media reports suggesting that he had been summoned in the wake of exit polls showing poor performance by BJP in the first phase of polls in the state.

He said the 8220;leaders in Delhi discussed BJP8217;s strategy for campaigning during the second and final stages of polling8221; in the state.

He, however, refused to divulge the details of the meeting, saying quot;yeh andar ki baat hai this is an internal matterquot;.

The Chief Minister claimed that BJP would improve its tally from previous 60 seats in the state.

8220;Though we are going to improve our performance, yet a win or a loss is always the collective responsibility of the party,quot; he remarked.

quot;One person cannot be given credit or discredit for good or bad performance of a party like BJP,quot; Singh said, adding quot;collective responsibility is the work culture and ideology of BJP.quot;
