COLOMBO, March 15: Sri Lankan selectors retained Arjuna Ranatunga as the captain for the one-day triangular cricket series in India, on the heels of the team8217;s ignominious defeat against Pakistan in the Asian Test Championship final in Dhaka today.

Ranatunga, who sustained a hamstring injury during last month8217;s Asian Test league match against India, missed the last league tie and the final.

The selectors retained the side that played at Dhaka for the series involving Pakistan and India, but omitted Romesh Kaluwitharana and included teenaged stumper Prasanna Jayawardene, who was part of the Sri Lankan under-19 team that just toured India.

The selectors brought in fast bowlers Eric Upashantha and Hemanta Boteju.

Sanath Jayasuriya and Muttiah Muralitharan are yet to return to full fitness. The squad: Arjuna Ranatunga capt, Arvinda de Silva vice-captain, Marvan Atapattu, Mahela Jayawardena, Eric Upashantha, Ruwan Kalpage, Hashan Tillekeratne, Chaminda Vaas, Promodaya Wickaramasinghe, Hemantha Boteju,Russel Arnold, Chandika Hathurasinghe, Avishka Gunawardene, Upul Chandana, Prasanna Jayawardene.
