AHMEDABAD, JANUARY 10: An unbeaten third-wicket partnership of 237 runs between captain Abhijit Kale and Shantanu Sugwekar put Maharashtra in the driving seat on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy cricket match against Gujarat at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera, on Monday.

Kale was batting on 134 17 fours while Sugwekar was unbeaten on 110 11 fours. Maharashtra needed to win the match outright to qualify for the next stage.
