Even as his employers indicated that the former Australian batsman has 8216;become unemployable8217;, the Sri Lankan media has so far downplayed Dean Jones8217; 8216;terrorist8217; remark.

Ten Sports, covering the Test series between Sri Lanka and South Africa, today offered a full apology to all affected parties, including the player Hashim Amla.

In a release today, Ten Sports TV said: 8220;The highly offensive nature of the comments have no place in cricket, sport or society as a whole and we deeply regret that such comments were broadcast. Ten Sports employs a staff drawn from a diverse cross-section of nationalities, cultures and religions. We have a zero tolerance policy for any expression of racial stereotyping and prejudice and condemn in the strongest possible terms the comments made by Mr Jones. We are reviewing our systems to ensure that such offensive and insensitive remarks do not happen again.8221;

The South African team8217;s media liaison officer, Gordon Templeton, said that the issue was being handled by CSA and that there would be no comment coming from the team8217;s management or the player himself. Jones, though he was off air at the time when making the remarks 8216;The terrorist has got another wicket8217; is said to have made the comment during an ad break in Sri Lanka, but the comments that upset fellow commentators were heard in South Africa where there was no ad break at the time.
