An unemployed man, Raju Adangale 32, tried to commit suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of Mantralaya on Tuesday. The building houses the offices of the chief minister, deputy chief minister and other senior ministers.

Adangale, a resident of Ghatkopar, hails from Niphad in Nashik and was peeved at not getting a job despite registering himself in the state employment exchange. He tried to commit suicide by jumping from the window in the lobby, but was stopped by bystanders.

Speaking to the media, Adangale alleged that officials had demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000 from him to send a call letter and he also had to face such demands when he had appeared for the police recruitment process.
