CPI Maoist cadres have struck terror in Jharkhand once again, killing three cops at Karimati village located along the Panki-Balumath highway in Palamu district today.

Reports said the Naxals gave a false information to Sanjay Singh, officer-in-charge of the Panki police station, that passengers of a private bus were being looted at Karimati. Singh rushed to the spot with a section of the Jharkhand Armed PoliceIX.

Not finding any bus, he and his 10 securitymen got down from the vehicle. But as they started walking, a landmine exploded.

Three constables died on the spot. Singh was among the seven who survived. A constable who was injured was admitted to the Sadar hospital in Palamu. 8216;8216;His condition is serious,8217;8217; IG Operation BC Verma said.

The landmine explosion occurred three days after Maoists seized control of a passenger train between Hehegarha and Kumundi railway stations in Latehar district, 70 km from Karimati in Palamu on March 13. Sources in the police said the state intelligence sleuths were unable to gain specific information about the time and place of the Naxal attack.
