
NEW DELHI, Nov 20: Urban Affairs and Employment Minister Ram Jethmalani has denied the charges that his ministry was stalling Karnataka government8217;s legislation to take over the Mysore Palace.
8220;More than once, news has appeared in the press that I am standing in the way of your taking over of the Mysore Palace. This is complete nonsense and totally false,8221; Jethmalani said in a letter to Chief Minister J H Patel.
Stating that he had merely advised that the propriety and the constitutional validity of the Bill should be carefully looked into, the Union Minister said, 8220;My ministry has nothing to do with the Bill nor is it interested in stalling the taking over.8221;
8220;I have nothing to do with the Wodeyar family nor am I concerned with their legal matter,8221; Jethmalani said adding, 8220;I hope you will scotch the irresponsible rumours.8221; The State government has been pressing for the early clearance of the Mysore Palace acquisition and transfer Bill 1998, which had been adopted by the Karnataka Assembly.
