NAGPUR, FEB 23: Suspecting double-cross by his lady-love, a youth thrashed her with stick and threw the girl from the terrace of her two-storeyed house in the Ganga-Jamuna red light area here late Sunday night.

Kuneja Israsingh Chhari, the 21-year-old victim, was removed to a private nursing home near Lakdapool here for treatment of severe injuries sustained in the fall.

The Lakadganj police have, meanwhile, arrested the youth, Manohar Krishna Balpande 22 of Lalganj locality, on charges of murder attempt following a complaint by Kuneja.

According to police, Manohar had an affair with Kuneja and would often visit the girl at her house in the red light area. During one such visit, around 11.30 pm on Sunday, Manohar noticed the photograph of a youth acirc;euro;ldquo; partially identified by the police as Javed 8212; in the house of the girl.

He confronted Kuneja over the matter and soon a heated verbal exchange ensued. Even as the two were arguing, an enraged Manohar picked up a stick and assaulted Kuneja beforethrowing her from the second-floor terrace, police said.
