The JD-S on Wednesday renewed its efforts to persuade senior leader and former Home Minister M P Prakash to give up his defiant stand on the revival of coalition ties with the BJP.

Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and former minister Cheluvaraya Swamy called on Prakash at the latter8217;s residence and tried to soothe his irked feelings, JD-S sources said.

Both of them appealed to Prakash to continue to guide the party.

However, Prakash, who hails from the dominant Lingayat community and was irked with the party8217;s top leadership for the humiliating treatment meted out to him, refused to budge from his present position.

Prakash, whose efforts to explore the possibility of forming a government with the Congress was averted by JD-S by unilaterally re-forging ties with BJP, still maintains that he is not willing to go with the saffron party.

Even as Prakash landed in Delhi to resume talks with Congress leaders last week, JD-S supremo H D Devegowda waved the green signal to his son Kumaraswamy to revive relations with the BJP.

Earlier, another of Gowda8217;s sons H D Revanna met Prakash and set the stage for a meeting between the senior leader and Kumaraswamy.
