JAIPUR, JAN 27: The historic Sonar Qila of Jaisalmer suffered damage and several buildings fell and developed cracks at various towns of Rajasthan due to the earthquake yesterday.
According to an official spokesman here today, the outer wall of the Jaisalmer fort had developed cracks. The back portion of Zalim Singh Ki Haveli and a part of Badal Vilas Palace, the king’s quarters, crumbled. At least half-a-dozen houses at Jaisalmer and Pokharan developed cracks.
At Jodhpur, the dome at the Collector’s office fell down. The railway station building at Kota developed cracks. In Barmer district, two village schools and a building housing a CID office at Bakhasar collapsed and the PWD office at the district headquarters suffered damages.
The spokesman disclosed that the Rajasthan Government had despatched 26 medical teams to Bhuj. These teams comprised orthopaedic surgeons, physicians and para-medical staff.
