The Indo-Pak series has attracted wide comment in South Africa. Kepler Wessels called it the ‘‘most important series in the sport in more than a decade’’, adding that the game had been missing for too long what India and Pakistan had to offer. ‘‘World cricket needs India and Pakistan to play each other. We have seen it at the World Cup, where not only their countries but others as well almost come to a standstill when they played’’, he said.
Such has been the interest among South African Asians that a local cable channel has bought the rights and already it is expected to draw as many TV spectators as did last year’s World Cup.
