The row over the selection of Vidhu Vinod Chopra8217;s Eklavya as India8217;s official entry to Oscars will continue before the Bombay High Court on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Film Federation of India, in its affidavit, informed the court that it has reaffirmed Eklavya as India8217;s entry to the Academy of Motion Pictures awards.

The chairman of the selection committee, Vinod Pandey, had earlier informed the court that the Academy of Motion Pictures has granted time till Tuesday for the committee to either reaffirm Eklavya or send a fresh entry. The FFI, following a meeting on Monday, reaffirmed the film as India8217;s entry.

On Wednesday, senior counsel Ravi Kadam, appearing for Bhavana Talwar whose film Dharm was one of the movies short-listed by the FFI jury, argued that one of the jury members, Ranjit Bahadur, had made the promo for Eklavya. Kadam argued that promos are an integral part of making a film which comes under the post-production stage.

Kadam then cited the Academy8217;s criteria which says artistes or executives who participated in the making of the film should not be involved with the selection process.

8220;Promos have a market of their own. So he Bahadur has an interest in the success of the film,8221; Kadam submitted. 8220;There is a real likelihood of bias in this case,8221; Kadam added.
