
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be the star campaigner for BJP in Chhattisgarh elections while Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi will campaign for Congress.
With request for Modi’s election meetings in their respective constituencies coming from party candidates, the state party election office is trying hard to ensure that Modi takes part in many public meetings as possible where it is felt that Modi’s presence would make a significance impact on party’s electoral fortunes.
Modi will be campaigning for two days in the state in the last leg of electioneering for the first phase of election.
On the other hand, the state Congress has made it clear that party president Sonia Gandhi, party general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be the star campaigners in the state.
Besides, both these political parties are lining up Bollywood stars to attract crowd during election campaigning.
Cricketer turned television personality and BJP MP Navjotsingh Siddhu, actress turned party MP Hema Malini and television soap queen Smriti Irani would be the BJP’s glamour face during electioneering with senior party leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu and others would be campaigning extensively in the state.
Congress is planning to bring party MP from Mumbai and Bollywood star Govinda and yesteryear bollywood actor Raj Babbar to campaign in the state.
