VADODARA, Feb 7: The inter-hostel girls table tennis and cricket tournaments to be held between the residents of H M Hall and S D Hall was called off on Sunday, following misunderstanding between the teams on the results of the tug-of-war which was held on Saturday.

The tournaments will, however, be re-scheduled and held later. The tug-of-war results would not be considered and the event would also be held again.

Chief Warden of the hostels N L Singh said, 8220;The girls have agreed with the decision of the authorities that the games would be held again for benefit of both the teams8221;.

Earlier during the day, the table tennis tournament had to be cancelled as the table was not dry. The cricket tournament too had to be stopped half way as girls came and squatted on the pitch. When inquired the girls and the team members refused to comment on the issue saying that it was an internal matter and would sort it on their own. Even the team-mates refused to divulge information and said they were unaware of such a happening.

However, people present in the pavilion said, 8220;The game had started in the morning, but had to be called off as girls came on the field and demanded that it be cancelled.8221; Singh said that the games had to be re-scheduled as the markings would depend on who would be the winner of the inter-hostel tourney.
