
CHANDIGARH, Sept 9: A city police inspector, Darshan Singh, has been suspended after he was reportedly found drunk on duty, here today. UT Inspector General of Police S. K. Singh issued the suspension orders of the inspector, who was posted with the airport security. He has also ordered an departmental enquiry against him to be conducted by a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Official sources said that Darshan Singh was quarrelling with another inspector, Harbel Singh, at the airport today. He also reportedly lodged a report against Harbel Singh. DSP airport security reported the matter to Superintendent of Police Balbir Singh who asked him to find out the facts and get the inspector medically examined. After the medical examination conducted at Sector 16 General Hospital revealed that he was under the influence of liquor while being on duty, he was placed under suspension.
Poll duty 8212; Probe ordered for keeping cops hungry
An inquiry has been ordered into why the food packets to police personnel on election duty reached a few hours late. Inspector incharge of internal police vigilance cell, Dhan Raj will conduct the inquiry.
Many of the police personnel on poll duty had received their food packets after 5 p.m. The cops had alleged that the quality of food was substandard. The packets were supplied by a private contractor. Official sources said the probe will ascertain all these allegations.
