Striking once in each half, Vietnam defeated India 2-1 to top group A in the LG Cup soccer tournament at Ho Chi Minh City today.

India also advanced to the next stage, along with the hosts, with the third team in the group 8212; Myanmar 8212; being eliminated from the six-team tournament with two losses.

Vinh put Vietnam ahead at the 21st minute with a shot from 15 metres and Thach Bao Khanh doubled Vietnam8217;s lead in the 57th minute. Midfielder Climax Lawrence scored a consolation goal for India three minutes from the end.
