
India on Thursday objected to the use of Bangladeshi territory by insurgent groups from the Northeast, particularly the ULFA. The matter was taken up during the two-day Indo-Bangla Home Secretary talks that began here. The Indian side also highlighted the anti-India activities by the ISI from Bangladesh soil.
Three main areas 8212; security aspects, better border management and enhancing cooperation, particularly in police matters8212; dominated the talks. The two sides set up three working groups to go into these. Their inputs will be used to finalise the joint statement expected to be issued tomorrow.
Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta leads the 26-member Indian delegation. The Bangladesh team is headed by Home Secretary Mohd Abdul Karim.
