India on Monday communicated its concern to Pakistan over the recent rise in border ceasefire violations and the attack on its Embassy in Kabul, in which ISI is suspected to be involved, as National

Security Advisor NSA M K Narayanan held talks with Pakistan8217;s NSA Mahmud Ali Durrani.

During the delegation-level talks, sources said the Indian officials emphasised that such incidents are not in sync with the ongoing peace process and the composite dialogue. A senior official from the Directorate General of Military Operations DGMO8217;s office made a presentation on the repeated ceasefire violations, after which both sides indulged in some plain-speaking, sources added.

New Delhi also wanted to know of the progress in the 8220;internal probe8221; in the India Embassy bombing in Kabul, agreed by Pakistan8217;s Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and promised to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when he had taken up the issue on the sidelines of SAARC summit in August this year. The Pakistani delegation headed by Durrani is understood to have stuck to its position on demanding 8220;credible evidence8221; from the Indian side.

The Indian Express was the first to report that forensic investigations carried out by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force have shown that the three mines and a tank shell which were also in the car that exploded bore markings of Pakistan Ordnance Factory, Wah. In fact, this has been backed by intercepts accessed by US intelligence agencies as well, which have also pointed towards ISI8217;s suspected involvement in the incident.

Before the talks, Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon 8212; on the sidelines of the MoU signing on the Passport project 8212; said that all issues which concern India would be discussed. 8220;We will discuss all the issues that concern us. Naturally, that includes what happened in Kabul, the situation in terms of maintaining the ceasefire. We will do that,8221; he said.

India has been raising the issue of rising incidents of cross-LoC firing by Pakistan Army, alleging that this is done to provide cover to infiltrating militants.

New Delhi has been upset at the suicide attack on its Embassy in Kabul on July 7, for which Afghanistan, India and the US have blamed Pakistan8217;s intelligence agency ISI. These incidents had pushed India to say that the dialogue process was under 8220;strain8221; and warn that its future could be in jeopardy if such acts continued.

Durrani will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday, besides meeting BJP President Rajnath Singh.
