MUMBAI: India8217;s Rohan Bhapoo today defeated Marcus Yeap of Malaysia 9-3, 9-0, 9-2 to gain third position in the Sports Excel Milo under-18 Squash championship at Kaulalumpur according to information recieved here. Bhapoo seeded fourth has earlier defeated his colleague Parth Doshi 8-10, 9-5, 9-5, 9-4 in the quarter finals before loosing to top-seeded Winson Chung of Hongkong in the semifinals.
Narsimhan invited
CHENNAI: Prof P Narasimhan, one of the most respected officials by the players in the Indian circuit, has been invited to attend the European Chief of Officials8217; School at Frankfurt, Germany, onApril 18 and 19 by the ATP tour. Prof. Narasimhan, who had officiated in more than 350 tournaments during the last 25 years, is the first Indian to be extended such an invitation.
Roy for Rotterdam
NEW DELHI: Dr Ashis Roy, the oldest active marathoner in India, is leaving for the Netherlands to participate in the April 19 Rotterdam Marathon. The 65-year-old Roy, will then travel to the Yugoslav Republic to take part in the April 25 Belgrade Marathon, which will make him the only Indian to run two full marathons within a span of five days. A veteran of 36 marathons, Roy is aspiring to complete 50 marathons before he turns 70.
