
Jeev finishes eighth
CHANDIGARH: Chiranjeev Milkha Singh is moving from strength to strength in the European PGA Tour. After finishing 22nd in the Deutsche Bank-SAP Open TPC in Germany last week, Jeev today finished joint eighth with Roger Wessels of South Africa in the National Car Rental English Open European PGA Tour in Hansbury Manon, England.
With an aggregate of 278, 10 under par, the Indian top professional golfer, earned 12,000 pounds. For Jeev, who started playing in the European circuit early this year, it was his best display so far in the European Tour.
He will now take part in the Compaq European Open starting on Thursday. The overnight leader Lee Westwood of England won the title with an aggregate score of 271, a total of 17-under par.
Warrant stayed
INDORE: The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court today stayed a lower court order for execution of warrants against former Indian cricket team skipper Sachin Tendulkar.
Vacation judge Justice JGChitle fixed June 29 for the next hearing of the case filed against Tendulkar and the Indian cricket team for 8220;cheating the Indore public in the name of One-Day International cricket match8221; on December 25, 1997. The match between India and Sri Lanka was abandoned because of unplayable pitch and a friendly match between the two teams was played on a near-by pitch on the same day.
The lower court had earlier ordered for issuing warrants to Tendulkar and others to appear in court on July 13.
Rajasthan bag title
PATIALA: Rajasthan won the 49th Junior National Basketball Championship for boys after getting past Madhya Pradesh lads by a convincing 88-40 margin in the final played here this evening. Ranjit Singh of Rajasthan opened the account for his team by getting a three pointer. Ranjit was well supported by his team mate Gajinder Singh and both the players demonstrated their skill.
