This time the CAB will have to depend on public sale as the affiliated units have bought tickets worth only Rs 6 lakh. The CAB is banking on Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin and Saurav Ganguly8217;s popularity.

In spite of the lukewarm response, CAB is confident of a crowd of atleast 50,000. The tickets have been priced at Rs 300 and Rs 200. The demand, as usual, is more for the lower denomination.

India unlikely

MUMBAI: India, a leading Asian nation in squash, is unlikely to figure in the event at the September Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur on the evidence of the entry list received for the sport8217;s debut at the quadrennial, multi-event extravaganza.

A total of 24countries, including four from Asia, have sent in their entries 8212; which had closed last month 8212; according to the World Squash Federation and India does not figure in the list.

The four Asian countries which have entered the event are powerhouses Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Games hosts Malaysia.

Humpy shocked

AHMEDABAD: In the day8217;s only major upset, Abhijit Gupta of Bhilwara, Rajasthan, ranked 13, defeated World champion, second-seeded Koneru Humpy in the fourth round under-12 boys section of the 11th Centurion Bank National Children8217;s chess championships for under-12s and under-14s at the Indian Institute of Management Campus here on Wednesday.

Abhijit Gupta, who is just eight years old played like a veteran and he inflicted defeat in just 33 moves.
