
Women power lifters for World meet
NEW DELHI: A ten-member team will represent India at the senior women8217;s World Powerlifting Championship to be held at Moi, Rana, Norway from May 20 to 24.
The ten lifters are K Surya Prabha, Rekha Mal, Sunita Punch, Geeta Dougre, Sarala Shetty, P A Gladies, Aparna Dubey, Ruma Pal, Tandra Roychowdhury and Chhaya Karandikar. Utpal Ghosh Bastidur coach, Shabiya Kansar manager and Subrata Dutta referee will accompany the team as officials.
Kapil willing
NEW DELHI: Former India captain Kapil Dev is willing8217; to take over as Haryana Cricket Association HCA secrtary and says he will do his best to improve standard of the game in the state.
Responding to a statement by HCA secretary Ranabir Singh that Dev was competent to take over the post.
BCCI probe
MUMBAI: The four-member special committee appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI, representing the aggrieved parties Tamil Nadu and Delhi Cricket Associations, is tomeet at Chennai on May 24 to review the BCCI8217;s decision to suspend the two units from this season8217;s Ranji Trophy Championship.

CHENNAI: The Marlybon Cricket Club MCC has nominated former Indian captain and umpire S Venkataraghavan in the International Cricket Conference ICC special committee headed by Lord S C Griffith to review the laws of cricket.This was announced in a press release by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association TNCA here today.
Kabaddi crisis
CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has issued an interim injuncton restraining some former office bearers of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India AKFI from conducting kabaddi matches, camps and allied activities in any form in the name of the AKFI.
