In-principle OK for 159 ALHs

The Cabinet Committee on Security gave in-principle clearance on Thursday for the induction of 159 indigenous Advance Light Helicopters for the Army and IAF. With IAF chief Fali Major giving a positive report to CCS after personally flying the chopper last week, decision was easier though a few riders have been attached. The clearance, sources said, is subject to further tests in cold weather and desert conditions. Under a five year contract, HAL will make 105 choppers for the Army and the remaining for the IAF.
