
Housing policy not well conceived’
Panchkula branch of the Haryana Gram Vikas Samiti, while welcoming the decision of the Haryana government to boost the housing activity, has said that the policy is not well conceived as it excludes the high potential areas of Panchkula, Faridabad and Gurgaon. Further, some of the clauses are vague and arbitrary and will benefit certain vested interests.
Mass contact programme
Kalka MLA Chander Mohan will launch a mass contact programme from Bir Ghagar village tomorrow. A statement issued here said that the programme will cover 12 villages of Panchkula district every day and will also recruit new members for the party.
Goyal made PPCC legal cell convenor
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh today appointed Sudarshan Goyal, a city based advocate of Punjab and Haryana High Court, as convenor of the Legal Cell of PPCC, according to a release.
MC staff demand risk-duty allowance n The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Horticulture Workers’ Union have deplored the delay in giving adequate risk-duty allowance to workers detailed to remove Parthenium. In a press note issued here today, the union has threatened to agitate if the allowance is not paid within 10 days.
NSS camps end
Two 10-day NSS camps organised separately by the Government College for Girls, Sector 11, and the Government College Sector 46, concluded today. At the camp organised by GCG Sector 11, projects were undertaken on the issues of female literacy, drug de-addiction, survey for polio immunisation, tree plantation and social welfare, a press release issued by college Principal Vijay Lakshmi said.
PNB holds The Punjab National Bank organised a customer-relations interaction camp here today attended by senior officers of the bank. PNB General Manager R.P. Gupta announced that automatic teller machines have been installed at the bank’s branches in sectors 17-B and 22-D and are being tested before actual operation begins. Business hours have been extended to 4 p.m. at the branches in sectors 9, 17-B and 28.
The policy of the Government of India of removing the Vth Central Pay Commission anomalies and removal of ceiling and limit of bonus has been condemned by the Coordination Committee of the Central Government Employees and workers. In a press release, Committee chairman R.K. Kakkar has demanded the restoration of 12 days casual leave in a year.
