
Woman, son die in mishap
Ahmednagar: Primary teacher Suvarna Yemul and her 20-year-old son Arun were crushed to death when a speeding truck overtaking an autorickshaw rammed into their two-wheeler moped on Manmad Road, early Thursday morning.
The truck MP 67/ 5607 also hit an autorickshaw, it was stated.
Suvarna Yemul, resident of Bhistabag in Savedi, was working with Principal Potyanal Bettin School while Arun was a last year science student.
Pooja in jail allowed
Kolhapur: Following the application that her two children should be allowed to stay with her in the jail, Renuka Shinde, an accused in the Gavit murder case, on Thursday requested that she be allowed to perform pooja in the prison. Renuka requested judge G.L. Yedke that she should be allowed to keep idols of God with her in the prison. She told the judge that the presence of God in jail would provide her some relief. The judge allowed her request, asking her to submit the list of idols.
Nine injured
Kolhapur: Nine persons including a woman and a nine-year old girl were injured when a tempo collided head on with a tractor near Balinga on early Thursday morning. The tempo, from Bijapur was on its way to Rajapur in Ratnagiri district. Nine persons, all hailing from Bijapur, received minor wounds in the accident. They were discharged following treatment at the CPR general hospital.

Solapur: The Solapur Municipal Corporation has passed a resolution seeking the State Government8217;s permission to borrow Rs 1.28 crore from the open market towards various developmental works in the city.
