6.32 lakh cubic feet silt removed from Sukhna
Mechanical desilting from the Sukhna Lake has evoked good response. This year, 6.32 cubic feet of silt has been removed against 2.21 cubic feet last year. Officials supervising the operation attributed it to the timely availability of silt removing machineries from various agencies of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. However, one Poclain with capacity to 25,000 cubic feet earth in a day, is atill awaited from the Punjab Irrigation Department.

Deputation meets Vineeta Rai
A deputation of Action Committee of Cooperative House Building Societies, led by Dr A.P. Sanwaria, called on Advisor to the UT Administrator, Vineeta Rai. The purpose was to apprise her of the problems faced by the society members. The deputation also sought her intervention in the matter of allotment of land to members who have deposited earnest money with the Chandigarh Housing Board.
