
PU alumni honoured
About 15 alumni of the Punjab University over the age of 75 years, including former Punjab Finance Minister Pt Mohan Lal, Justice retd H.S. Sodhi and former PU V-C Prof R.C. Paul, were honoured at a cultural evening organised by the PU Alumni Association on Saturday night. quot;Different teams from city colleges performed at the function,quot; Dr R.C. PUCSC president threatens strike
Punjab University Campus Students Council president D.P.S. Randhawa has threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike from February 23 if the Administration did not respond to his demands. Randhawa had submitted a memorandum to the authorities enlisting demands including waiver of entertainment tax for students in cinema halls, free bus passes and special females only8217; buses for girls, a release said.
Three booked
Three persons have been booked for allegedly assaulting and injuring a Maloya colony resident, Shri Nath Yadav. Police said a case has been registered against Shiv Bahadur, Hari and Sanjay under Sections 323, 325 and 34 of IPC.
Fraud case
The city police have registered a case of fraud and cheating under Section 420 of the IPC against Budh Raj, who allegedly forged the documents of a housing board flat for the purpose of selling it. No arrests have been made so far.
Lawyer arrested
A local advocate, A.K. Maleri, has been arrested in a alleged fraud case. According to police sources, a case was registered against him by the Economic Offences Wing EOW in December. He had allegedly forged documents of a company which was not permitted to bid for certain tenders.
