Police solve cabbie8217;s murder

Vikhroli Parksite police have arrested six persons for the murder of a taxi driver whose vehicle they stole on June 14. The accused were arrested at Juhu garden on Saturday, a month after the body of Vinod Sharma 30 was found They had strangled Sharma after flagging down the vehicle at CST.

Two badges, a taxi driver8217;s uniform and some nylon rope, which was used to strangle the victim, have beenrecovered. The vehicle, which had been painted black and whose registration and number plates had been altered, was also found. The accused have been identified as Lancy D8217;Souza, Sadruddin Khan, Sudhir Manwar, Shravan Shinde, Ajay Yadav and Sanjay Khairnar.

Free lunch for the poor

The Diwaliben Charitable Trust has introduced a lunch packet scheme. C haritable trusts, institutions and other organisations can buy these packets priced at Rs 2.50 in bulk loads of 500 per day for a year. The food will be distributed among beggars and footpath dwellers at noon daily.
