
MUMBAI, November 17: A quickfire 64 in 26 balls by Imran Mulla paved Amrut Education Society8217;s path into the tournament proper of the MSSA-Colgate u-16 cricket tournament for the Harris Shield at Azad Maidan today.
Imran raced to his 50 in just 18 balls and packed 13 fours in his 26-ball innings as Amrut piled up 239 for nine in the stipulated 40 overs against GD Somani. Somani8217;s left arm spinner Mayank Dayal claimed seven wickets, but he could not stem Imran8217;s onslaught, going for 99 runs in his 16 overs.
Mayank later scored 40, but Somani were bundled out for 156, losing the match by 83 runs.
A 82-run second wicket partnership between Raunak Balasubramanian 51 and Sanil Salvi 35 not out helped St Francis D8217;Assisi notch a five -wicket victory over Gokuldham in another match.
While five other teams crossed their fourth round hurdles to enter the last 16, their real test starts on December 16, when they take on last year8217;s quarter-finalists, who got a bye into the main draw. Whether any of them hasimproved enough to put it across the veterans in the two-day pre-quarters is to be seen.
The eighth qualifier is yet to be decided. Raje Shivaji IES has lodged a protest against Rizvi Springfield, accusing the school of fielding overage players.

Hinduja 26 all out
Bd Hinduja College were bowled out for 26 in the quarter-final of the Multigames Inter-school u-19 cricket tournament for the CK Nayadu Trophy at the Oval here today. The wrecker-in-chief for Ruparel was Virendra Yadav, who claimed a hat-trick to reduce Hinduja to 7-5 on a wet wicket. Ruparel humbled the target in four overs to record a ten-wicket win.
The day saw another hat-trick. Sumit Mahadik claimed 3-10 and instrumented two run-outs as Ambedkar College crashed to 62 all out while chasing Kirti8217;s 133 for 6 20 overs. But it was Ruia8217;s Nishant Shivalkar who stole the show with an impressive unbeaten ton against Siddharth. Nishant8217;s 111 included 15 fours and one six, as Ruia beat Siddharth by 49 runs to advance to the semis.
