
The directors of all six Indian Institutes of Management IIM met in Delhi a day ahead of their meeting with HRD minister Arjun Singh.
Against the backdrop of the HRD Ministry denying permission to IIM-Bangalore to open a campus in Singapore, the meeting between the minister and directors will discuss 8216;8216;the autonomy and other issues concerning the institutes8217;8217;, according to an official.
After the four-hour long meeting on Tuesday, the directors refused to divulge the details of the deliberations. Shekhar Chaudhary, director of IIM Kolkota, described the meeting as 8216;8216;routine8217;8217; and that he had 8216;8216;nothing to say about matters that the media is interested in8217;8217;.
He said the directors are not inclined for confrontation with the government on any issue and felt confident that 8216;8216;all issues will be amicably resolved8217;8217; in the meeting on Wednesday.
