CHANDIGARH, April 9: Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal and Inspector General of Police Kiran Bedi today visited ward no 5, comprising Sector 25, Dhanas, Khuda Lahora, Khuda Jassu, Sarangpur and Dadumajra to gain first-hand information about the slum-dwellers and to redress their grievances.

The IGP, while directing the SHOs to remain in touch with elected representatives, ordered the barrier linking to neighbouring states should be widened to ensure smooth flow of traffic. She asked the people to call the police with their complete address, while reporting any type of crime in their areas so that the action taken report could be sent to them.

While assuring the people of mutual co-ordination between the police and councillors, she informed that she would visit different areas of the councillors regularly. This was the first visit of Kiran Bedi to the slums after being appointed IGP.

Among others who were present on the occasion included former mayor and chairman of Slum Development Committee Kamla Sharma and SSP N. S. Randhawa.

The Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal assured Bedi of his full cooperation.
