
P K JHA, a 1986 batch IPS officer from Bihar, passed away at Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon after a prolonged illness of Wilson8217;s Disease associated with brain haemorrhage and liver and kidney failure. He is survived by his wife and three children 8212; a son and two daughters. He was last posted as Inspector General of Police, CID Crime.
Dr Harsh Toshniwal, an Infectious Diseases specialist who treated Jha at the Sterling Hospital said: 8220;He had a history of Wilson8217;s Disease, a genetic disorder. Moreover, his liver was not working well. Later on, he had developed brain haemorrhage, following which his kidneys got infected.8221;
According to Dr Toshniwal, Jha was under treatment since August 18 and was declared dead on Sunday around 3 pm. For the past several days, he was on life support system.
Jha 47 had done his B Tech in Civil Engineering. Known as a man of operations in police circle, Jha had investigated several high-profile cases such as the murder of Chetan Battery in the Sabarmati Central Jail and the murder of Pankaj Trivedi allegedly at the behest of some senior officials of the Swadhyay Parivar in Ahmedabad. The report he had submitted to the Gujarat High Court about the status of the Sabarmati Central Jail had created a lot of controversy.
