Before the acupuncture treatment Khan was unable to walk properly or speak coherently. He had a loss of sensation in his right lower limb and left hand constant tingling sensation in the body. He also had reduced muscular power. As a result, he was not able to do normal work through his hands.

The disease had set in four years back. Khan had tried all sorts of medicines in allopathy and even went for physiotherapy which gave hima little relief, but he was not cured. Orthopaedic surgeons suggested operation, but he was reluctant.

It was at this point of time that Khan met one of the patients, Patel, who had been treated at Mure Memorial Hospital. On his advice Khan came to Nagpur for treatment and in just three days of acupuncture treatment, Khan had good improvement. He can now walk without support and even climb stairs. He has regained sensation, his muscular power has increased and there is reduced tingling numbness. There would be further improvements in the patient. Besides there would be no relapse of the disease, assured Dr Kothari.

These therapies are safe, economical, easy to administer, painless without any side effects and provide long lasting results, said Dr Kothari.

The Department of Acupuncture, Mure Memorial Hospital Nagpur has started practising laser press implant therapy for upper respiratory tract disorders such as asthma, sneezing, rhinitis and sinusitis. The acupuncture point is stimulated by the small imported needle which is implanted on the point. This gives immediate relief to the asthma patients. The treatment is especially effective in children. The grown up people have to undergo two or more sessions with some gap, he said.
