CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: SGPC member Amrinder Singh `Hijacker’ has, in a letter to SGPC president G.S.Tohra, demanded that the general house pass a resolution to help him get a passport.
Amrinder Singh’s passport application was rejected by the regional passport office on September 9 and intimation was sent to him. Singh was one of the hijackers who had taken an Indian plane to Pakistan during the days of terrorism.
Earlier, a civil court had directed the passport authorities to decide his application for issuance of a passport within three months.
Amrinder Singh’ told The Indian Express that Union Food Minister Surjit Singh Barnala had recommended his case a number of times but in vain.
Hijacker has sought the support of the general house of the SGPC for passing a resolution condemning the attitude of the center towards Sikh youth.
