Clad in white shirt and trousers, Sharad Chauhan, the BSP candidate from Nangloi, walks from door to door asking people for their support. Unlike other candidates who have been hiring people for rallies, Chauhan has people who are volunteering for him. Chauhan is an upper-caste Hindu representing the Dalits in the area, and is evidently riding high on residents8217; support.

8220;When my son was down with dengue, he came to my house and took my son to the hospital. He also donated two bottles of blood and saved my son8217;s life. It is now my time to repay him,8221; says Rama Kishor, a resident of village Khera Kala in Narela.

Chauhan is also the MCD councillor from the area, and people of the colony feel he has done in the past one year what others could not manage in five years. 8220;Our sewers were choked for years. Only after Chauhan became the councillor were these drains cleaned. What the Congress MLA before him could not achieve for this area in the past ten years, Sharad has done it in a years time,8221; said another villager Amina Parveen.

Villagers also feel that the Congress has ruled the country for 60 years and now needs to retire. 8220;It is time for the Congress to retire and give way to the new generation,8221; added another supporter.

BSP is confident of wining the Narela seat. 8220;Apart from the Dalits, the Hindus and the Jains have also extended their support to us. We have some competition from the Congress candidate, but the BSP is definitely going to emerge as winner in this area,8221; said a confident Sharad Chauhan.
