Express News Service:NOVEMBER 12: An electronic reading centre for the blind was inaugurated today at the University Club house at Churchgate.
The centre set up by Mumbai University to help blind people learn better, houses under one roof different equipments, including five scanners, Tactile Image Enhancer, Nomad Audio Tactile Processor, a Braille Printer and a computer.
Blind students of Mumbai pursuing college/university education and members of Indian Association for the Visually Handicapped (IAVH), can have free access to this centre. At a time, five blind students can read at the centre.The vice-chancellor of Mumbai university, Snehalata Deshmukh said depending on the success of this centre, the university will consider the setting up of another centre at its Kalina campus.
