KIRYAT SHMONA, Aug 19: Dozens of Katyush rockets from Lebanon slammed into northern Israel today, lightly injuring at least one person and damaging a building, witnesses and Israeli rescue workers said.
The attack came early morning, a day after violence in Lebanon claimed the lives of at least nine civilians.
8220;I awoke at 6:30 in the morning. At seven we heard on the news on the television that it8217;s quiet, everything8217;s OK, and then precisely three or four minutes later there was a barrage of Katyushas, at least 20 or 30 8211; a quantity I8217;ve never heard before,8221; a resident named Gavriel told Israeli army radio.
Hizbollah, the Iranian-backed 8220;party of god8221;, has been trying to oust Israeli troops and militiamen of the Israeli-backed south Lebanon army from a 15-km-deep border zone set up inside Lebanon with the aim of preventing guerrilla attacks on Israel8217;s border.
