Frenchmen Thierry Henry has been showered with praise after being named the Players8217; Player Of The Year for his sensational season with English champions Arsenal. The Frenchman became the first player to win the award for two years in running but was quick to extol the virtues of the Highbury family spirit.

Arsenal had six players in the Premiership team of the year, which also included captain Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, Lauren and Ashley Cole.

Henry8217;s 29 goals in 33 Premiership games helped the Gunners clinch their second title in three years but he refused to take the credit, pointing out the strength of what he called a family team.

8216;8216;I am quite lucky to play in a special team,8217;8217; Henry said. 8216;8216;The strikers grab the headlines but I have special players around me. We play as a team and we are willing to fight for each other, and you need that ability. It8217;s like we are a family, willing to do things together and fight for it.8217;8217;

But Vieira praised Henry8217;s contribution. 8216;8216;He will tell you it is a team game but he has been tremendous in the last two games when we have been a little bit tired and needed someone to do something special,8217;8217; Vieira said.

France coach Jacques Santini said Henry deserved the award after the striker lost out to Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved for the 2003 European Footballer Of The Year prize. 8216;8216;He really deserves it after everything that Arsenal have achieved,8217;8217; Santini said.

Reflecting on the season as a whole, Henry said the sense of determination has been Arsenal8217;s driving force this season. 8216;8216;It was about desire,8217;8217; Henry said. 8216;8216;We are all winners and competitors and you saw that the whole season and it is not finished yet.8221;
