The accused in the recent Lokkhi case 8212; Debok Jyoti Das and Paromita Das 8212; have vacated their rented home and no one seems to know their present whereabouts.

Charged with beating their minor domestic help, Lokkhi, the couple was arrested on November 8 before being released on bail a day later.

The police were not even aware the couple was 8216;missing8217;. 8220;The matter is subjudice, and the onus is on the accused to appear before the court on the next hearing on December 10,8221; said a police officer at the Sector 56 police station.

The family was living in the Kendriya Vihar flat for the past two-and-a-half years. When contacted, a relative of the owner, Rajesh Diwan, said: 8220;Since their lease was to get over on November 30, I told the property dealer to get the flat vacated immediately. I have not got the keys yet. It is good that they have vacated the flat. The property dealer told me they had not mentioned where they were going.8221;

According to neighbours, the family, even the children, had stopped interacting with others in the building. Neighbours said the Das family kept to themselves after the Lokkhi episode cropped up. 8220;We were on friendly terms and my children played with their8217;s. They were nice to talk to and none of us could ever imagine what was going on within the four walls,8221; said a resident on the same floor.

Genpact, where Debok Jyoti worked as senior manager, said they did not wish to comment as the matter was subjudice.
