
INDORE, July 9: The Madhya Pradesh High Court confirmed its stay exempting former captain Sachin Tendulkar from personal appearance at a local court in connection with a case on the abandonment of the India-Sri Lanka one-day tie on December 25 last year.
Confirming the stay granted earlier, Justice S B Sakrikar adjourned to a later date hearing on Tendulkar8217;s petition challenging the case registered against him.
Tendulkar had moved the high court after the case was filed by city lawyer Shailendra Dwivedi at the judicial magistrate8217;s court following the abandonment of the match due to unplayable pitch conditions.
Apart from Tendulkar, who led India then, charges were also registered against Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga, match referee Ibrahim Ahmed of Zimbabwe and two office-bearers of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association.
