KOCHI, APRIL 10: The Kerala High Court yesterday ratified the decision taken by the Travancore Devaswom Board to provide financial assistance to the victims of the Sabarimala tragedy and permitted disbursal of the same in the manner sought by the Board.

The Board had sought permission to disburse financial assistance to the legal heirs of the deceased and injured persons in Kerala through the collectorates concerned and those in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra through the Chief Secretaries of the respective states, with a direction to disburse the amount after proper verification.

According to the Board, in spite of its best efforts, it has not been able to obtain details of the legal heirs of the deceased from Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur districts and the details are awaited from the concerned collectorates.

The court also gave sanction for the construction of a building for the Cardiology Centre at Appachimedu at a cost of Rs 9,65,000. Sanction was also accordedfor the upkeep of the traditional pathway from Appachimedu to the sannidhanam at the cost of Rs 27,20,000.
