CHANDIGARH, July 13: N S Sodhi Club outclassed Dharam Singh Club 8-1 in the junior group in a six-a-side hockey tournament which commenced at Sector 18 Hockey Stadium here today.

In a one-sided affair NS Sodhi Club dominated the proceeding and shocked the opponents scoring in the first five minutes of the contest through Charanjeet. Three minutes later Parbhjot gave a clean pass to Maria, who made no mistake 2-0.

Down by two, Dharam Singh Club made efforts to reduce the margin, but lacked the finishing touch. Sunila twice came near scoring, once in the later part of the first half when she missed to push the ball into the goal. Sunila, however, failed to reduce the margin when she only had to deflect the ball into the target.

Charanjeet scored the third goal and Maria the fourth. The eventual winners were leading 4-0 at the break.

In the second session Prabhjot struck twice while Roohi and Sarvpreet got one each for NS Sodhi Club.

Sunila, who earlier was culprit on two occasions shot one back in the dying moments of the game.

In another match of the day, Siddharth8217;s hat-trick enabled Dhyan Chand Club to score 9-3 victory over Devinder Club. Siddharth scored in the 3rd, 6th, 8th and 47th minutes of the game.

Devinder Club got their act together and made inroads into the rival territory and tasted success. Gaurav moved down the right flank and pushed the ball into the goal 1-3. Thereafter, Dhyan Chand Club tightened their defence and thwarted the opponents8217; move to score.

In the second half there were goals galore as Dhyan Chand Club pumped in six goals. Davinder Singh 1, Kulbir Negi 3, Mamta 1 scored for the winners. Babita struck twice for Devinder Club.

Sarbjit Club also defeated Sukhbir Club 3-2. Sonu 2 and Sarvpreet 1 were goal getters for the winners while Bablu and Pritima scored for the losers.

In the sub-junior section, Sky-Blue House beat Black House 5-0. Man Pratap scored three goals not hat-trick while Kamal and Sonia scored one goal each. In another encounter Green House posted a 3-2 win over Yellow House.

Kuldeep, Vandana and Anand Bhandari scored for Green House. Mohammed and Chandan scored for Yellow House.

The matches are being played on league-cum-knock out basis. 14 teams including 7 in the sub-junior group are participating in the meet.

The duration of the matches are 8211; 25 minutes of two halves with a break of five minutes in the sub-junior section while its 30 minutes of each half with a lemon break of five minutes in the junior category.
