The Bhoiwada Metropolitian Magistrate on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Pune-based horse owner Hasan Ali Khan 56 who was arrested by the Worli police under the Passport Act for possessing multiple passports and on charges of cheating.

The Magistrate R B Agarwal rejected the bail plea of Khan after the prosecution strongly opposed it saying that certain documents have to be seized and if he is released on bail, he might tamper with the evidence. The prosecution also argued that the police had substantial evidence against Khan.

The plea stated that prima facie, no case under the Passports Act was made out against him. The plea also stated that there was no headway in the investigations even after keeping Khan in police custody for 10 days, hence no further custodial interrogation was not required.

However, the court rejected the plea stating that prima facie the case was made out against Khan. The defence is likely to move the sessions court for bail.
