BHIWANI, January 3: CHIEF Minister Bansi Lal while addressing an impressive gathering at Kirori Mal Municipal Park here today declred that twenty-three crores will be spent on the improvement of the Electric Transmission System in Bhiwani during the next two years.He also sanctioned the construction of a mini Secretariat at Charkhidadri. The state which had been pushed back by the previous regime, has been put on the track of development once again, said Bansi Lal.

He cautioned the public not to get misled by the false and tall promises of the opposition parties. No government can run without realising revenue, he said and added that while he was being charged of levying taxes of several crores of rupees, the fact of the matter was that the BJP-HVP alliance government had to levy taxes to set off the deficit left by the previous government. The annual revenue yielding from these taxes levied was only Rs 177.41 crore, he informed.

The Chief Minister criticised the opposition for terming him anti-employees, anti-farmers and anti-public. He said he had implemented the pay commission on the basis of the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission which was costing the state exchequer Rs 650 crore. Farmers had been paid the balance on the payment of sugarcane left unpaid by the previous government at prices prevalent today. The remunerative sugarcane price had been fixed to benefit the farmers. Bansi Lal said that though he was a Jat he had not restricted himself to keeping his own communities interests at heart, but had always taken all the 36 biradaries along.

While commenting on the discontinuation of grant to the Agroha Medical College, he clarified that the grant was discontinued by Bhajan Lal almost a year prior to his taking over as Chief Minister. A meeting to this effect had been chaired by Bhajan Lal, the then Chief Minister and attended by 12 members including six from the government and six from the college management. Majority of them were from the Aggarwal community, he said.

Bansi Lal said that Haryana was soon going to attain self-sufficiency in power generation. He said that a 500 MW plant is being set up in Hisar. Land has already been acquired for the purpose, he added. The state would be able to supply round the clock power by June 30. He said as many as 1,289 mw of power generation was being added to the present 863 mw. He detailed several power generation projects where the work was in progress on war footing.

He said that his next priority would be the repair and maintenance of roads, work for which was being taken in hand in the phased manner. Ram Krishan Gupta, ex-MP presided over the meeting and Chhatar Singh Chauhan, Speaker Haryana Vidhan Sabha, was also present.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Ministers Om Parkash Mahajan, Kanwal Singh, Karan Singh Dalal and Ramesh Kaushik, Jagdish Yadav,Ram Bhajan Aggarwal, Harsh Kumar, Sat Narain Lathar, Chairman Agro Industries Bijender Singh Kadyan, MLAs Nirpender Singh, Somvir and Sat Pal Sangwan, and Prahalad Singh Gillakhera.
